Welcome to the New Jersey Surrogacy Center LLC (NJSC), the first agency to be established under new legislation which governs all aspects of gestational surrogacy, including the enforceability of agreements between intended parents and gestational carriers in New Jersey. My name is James Miskowski. I am an attorney who has been on the forefront of family law with particular expertise in the area of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Technology for over 30 years. I am pleased to be a Founder and the Director of NJSC.
My career in this area of the law started when my wife and I desired to have a family and adopted our daughter, who opened our world to adoption. My law practice developed an expertise in representing prospective parents in these fields and lead to me to my devotion to help people become parents. I am the dad of three wonderful children.
I have had the privilege of assisting clients in creating over 2,500 families and helped shaped New Jersey’s laws over the decades through legislative efforts and numerous published Appellate and Supreme Court decisions.
NJSC works with intended parents and surrogates from throughout the US and abroad. Our proximity to the New York tri-state metropolitan area allows us to work with some of the finest IVF clinics and hospitals in the world. Our offices are only 20 miles from Manhattan making it convenient for New York and International clients. This eliminates the need for long flights or hours of driving to distant cities across the country. It also provides clients to conveniently visit with their surrogate and the medical specialists involved throughout the process including the pregnancy and the birth of their child.

SURROGATES
Professionals who have been working in this area of the law well know the key to an extraordinary surrogacy experience is making the right match. We carefully screen all candidates, and only those who meet the high standards of our agency and clients are accepted into our program. Our surrogates come from all walks of life. The common element they have is the enjoyment of being pregnant and desire to help people have children.
All our surrogates must have previously given birth to a healthy child. Many are married and employed. A surrogate must be at least 21 years old and not older than 42. Most IVF clinics do not except smokers and surrogates are required to abstain from drugs and alcohol. They are required to go through medical procedures, pregnancy and placement. Additionally, they must pass a background check, a psychological evaluation from a clinical psychologist, a home visit and medical examinations.
NJSC shares with intended parents detailed information about perspective surrogates, including medical and social history, physical description, and personal interests. You will have the opportunity to meet and get to know your potential surrogate. Once a match is made you may work out arrangements concerning your relationship with your surrogate during the pregnancy, pre and post birth, and placement.
Women who become surrogates have a profound effect on other people’s lives. Most do so because they want to help others experience the joy of having a family. They enjoyed being pregnant and desire to help intended parents become parents of their own child or children.
